I was given a coding challenge where I was suppose to submit my email by decrypting a hash. I solved the problem within 24 hours submitted it. The HR woman got back to me soon and we were suppose to talk to have a formal interview. Then she found out I was still a student (only taking 1 class online over the summer) and she basically told me that I could be hired. After speaking with her she said it was because management doesn't want hires to be going to school or have any big commitments outside of work. I get it it's Silicon Valley but the idea that they don't want you to do anything outside of work does not seem appealing or sustainable.
