I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Anthropologie in Oct 2015
Interview
Fairly routine phone screen with a great recruiter who had a very natural way of conducting what is usually trhe most awkward of all the interview types. Followed up with a panel interview with a nice yet Bougie group of store managers. All 3 knew my background, had my resume in front of them and asked for my portfolio and allowed me the time to present even in front of 2 other candidates (note to visual candidates - bring a portfolio or keep a pinterest page!!!)
I was completely unimpressed with the 3rd round. Met a few district people at a coffee shop. All were VERY Bougie, unaware of my resume and were constantly distracted by the environment in the coffee house. It was like talking to air - millennials do NOT know how to conduct proper, professional interviews - immediately turned off by the lack of professionalism presented by this group and the fact they chose a very distracting environment to conduct business. Note to mamangement - most candidates are VERY uncomfortable sitting in a public space trying to present work history, personal information, and accurate storytelling with so many distractions - they also chose a VERY small space which did not allow for a great portfolio presentation.
No prepared questions or skill set assessment - and they seemed anxious to end the interview before I had even sat down. Very different from the first 2 experiences - disappointing.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What can you contribute to the store?
What skills do you have they may separate you from the others?
If you were allowed total freedom, how would you market your department?
What is your aesthetic?
How would you acclimate yourself in a store of seasoned employees?
What do you love about Anthropologie?
What would you change about Anthropologie?
Not too difficult at all of a process. Just have a good eye and be able to articulate your vision. Have questions prepared. Know the brand and customer well. Know the competition as well
I applied online. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Anthropologie (Orlando, FL) in Dec 2015
Interview
Applied online and was contacted within the next 2 days to come in for an interview. Met with manager in store, was asked questions on aesthetic preferences and experience in retail and merchandising. Was asked to do an exercise in which I would pull 6 looks based on a detailed scenario of a young woman and her mother. Was given 30 minutes to complete the task and present in front of visual manager and store manager.
