I really appreciate what Glassdoor does for employees so I strive to make my contributions detailed. First I received an email about my online application to set up a "group interview” and tour.
I showed up half an hour early. When I cheerfully walked into the waiting area, the chaos was immediately apparent. There was one frazzled lady behind the counter who seemed to be doing all the work, answering phones and dealing with customers in the waiting room while the other workers just sat and loitered behind the counter. Bad sign right away.
She told me to fill out paperwork even though my resume, references and cover letter print outs I brought with me contained all of this information. Tedious but OK. There were also about six common sense behavioral questions in the paperwork. After I handed the clipboard back I waited and waited. They actually forgot about me.
Finally, I overheard some whispers then my name was called and I was given a rushed tour with one interviewer and joined up with the rest of the group which gave a false impression that I was late. There were three young interviewers and three applicants like myself. All the applicants seemed more professional and awake than the apparently inexperienced interviewers despite their titles. The one who did most of the talking kept twirling her hair making eye contact with the other interviewers rather than the applicants. The only question applicants were asked was if we had questions for them. One asked whether the ACC catered to rabbits and birds and the supervisor seemed oddly impressed with that.
The next step, about ten days later was another email asking me to come in for a second interview at Park Place offices (no animals there). It was a three on one interview. Only one kept notes and had a long, disorganized list of questions on a sheet of paper. The anonymous one (same interviewers from before) seemed to be letting them experiment haphazardly while she was silent for most of the time. There were quite a lot of questions and some of the questions were repetitious or just silly. There were long awkward silences as they tried to think of more questions to ask too. When the one apparently in charge asked if I had a question, I asked it and she turned it right around on me instead of answering it fully. It seems like the entire thing was practice for all of them rather than actually being interested in me. The vibe here is disorganized, disjointed and disinterested. It looks like they have a hard time retaining employees since they’re frequently reposting job ads for the same positions. Their job descriptions are deteriorating too and sounding more like an awful hipster startup company rather than a serious organization with lines such as, “Regardless of your singing ability, you are a karaoke champion. The flamingo is your spirit animal. You were your high school’s cheer captain. You were voted most likely to start your own business in high school.” For a basically minimum wage job this is extra ridiculous. The interview experience was negative.
