I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at AmpliTech in Apr 2023
Interview
The interview process was conducted in a highly professional and structured manner. It began with formal introductions, followed by an overview of the company’s hardware development focus and its ongoing FPGA-related projects. I was asked detailed questions regarding my experience with FPGA design, including HDL programming (such as VHDL or Verilog), simulation and verification processes, and experience with development tools like Xilinx Vivado or Intel Quartus. The technical portion also included problem-solving scenarios to assess my ability to optimize logic design and manage timing constraints. Throughout the interview, the panel maintained a respectful and focused tone, which allowed for clear communication and thoughtful discussion. I was also given the opportunity to ask questions about the development workflow, team structure, and the company’s roadmap for FPGA innovation. Overall, the process reflected a strong emphasis on technical expertise, collaboration, and precision in hardware design.

Question 1
How would you describe the pace at which you work ?
I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at AmpliTech (Holbrook, NY) in Jun 2012
Interview
Informal. No suite, tie, etc. formalities, but at the same time do look & behave somewhat conservatively, this maybe informal but it isn't a "club", either. You will sign profuse, lengthy NDA & NCA (Non-Disclosure/Non-Compete), although technically there's little to worry about, it doesn't hold patents or some seriously inventive stuff. It's just owner's lifetime obsesion with NDA's covering 15-year old designs, FYI Non-Compete is not upheld in many states outside NY, anyway.
Just look carefully at what you sign, because one day you may sign your own death penalty!
The folks there are lovely and lively. Perhaps too much for me...
Only 2 people interview you and is quick ! The company simply has no resources for heavy-duty interviews, you either make it or break it after hiring.
Had to call afterwards, though, to stimulate hiring by showing interest, because I wanted that flex.schedule and atmosphere.

How do you handle disagreement with Upper Management ?
How loyal are you to the Company.
How do you fare under stress
I applied in-person. I interviewed at AmpliTech (Bohemia, NY) in Dec 2011
Interview
Many technical questions that are directly relevant to the job function and practical applications rather than theory. Interviewers are not interested in your proficiency with theory and abstract engineering, but with your experience with the practical day-to-day operations you will be asked to perform and/or participate in.
