Ampersand does a 3-step interview process, starting with a short meet-up with the president of the company followed by an interview on site at Wal-mart, Sam's Club, or CostCo. The first step went well enough for me--the people working in the office were welcoming and kind. I was less interested in the position when I realized that the first year or so will consist of working at a booth in a grocery store, but I decided to go to the second interview when I was approved to get a feel for the job. I had not realized that the job required long travel prior to the second interview when the store I was assigned to go to was actually an hour away. After driving for an hour to get there, I was told to wait outside the store until my interviewer came to let me in. After calling 3 times, leaving a message, and waiting for over 30 minutes in the summer heat, I received no response, so I left. To their credit, when I emailed to let Ampersand know about my experience, the HR rep was very apologetic and polite, letting me know that action would be taken to ensure this doesn't happen to future applicants.
