I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at American Income Life (Wexford, PA)
Interview
A recruiter from Ferrari & Associates had called me, telling me that they saw my resume online and thought I would be a good fit for their company. I asked the woman calling me if the job involves sales, and told her that I am not good at sales. She assured me that the job did not entail sales, that it was an educational position, and that I would be meeting with union leaders and other individuals to educate them about their benefits. I agreed to the interview. She told me I was interviewing for Ferrari and Associates and gave me the address. When I presented at the address, I did not see Ferrari and Associates listed in any of the directories in any parts of the building. I discovered that I was actually interviewing for AIL. There were 20 other individuals interviewing as well. We were called in by twos for a brief ten minute interview and then we were ushered into a small room where a man gave us a 45 minute presentation on why AIL is such a wonderful company. He told us he made 3 million dollars in 7 years. We were given a personality test and were told that if interested they would be calling us within 24 hours. When I went home I searched online for AIL and read all of the negative and informative reviews on glass door. I learned from this site that it was indeed a sales position, in fact it is a commission only position, and that people often do not get paid for months at a time. None of this is shared in the presentation. In fact we were told that we would not be doing cold sales, that we would be given the information about individuals and companies who had expressed an interest in the company. AlL called me a couple hours after my interview to set up a second interview with Mr Ferrari. I again asked whether or not this was a sales position. I was told that yes this was indeed a sales position. I reiterated that I did not want to work in sales, and that I had told them that I was not good at sales. I declined to go on the second interview.
