      "Customer Service/Admin" Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at American Income Life in Oct 2014

      Interview

I came across the job on Craigslist - the name of the company wasn't mentioned, just the job title. I submitted my resume and received a call the same week to schedule an interview. Imagine my surprise when I get there only to find I was "bait-and-switched." They were hiring agents, and we spent about an hour in a group setting going over how the training/sales/upward advancement process works. I was interviewed one-on-one for maybe 10 minutes at the end. I should have known from this point that it was a shady business, seeing as I thought I was going in for a customer service/admin position (rather than sales), but I was offered a second interview and asked to come back the next morning. I went home and did some research, and came across a ton of negative reviews here on Glassdoor. I called back and let them know I wouldn't be coming back for another interview. These people are all over Craigslist preying on unsuspecting people who are either looking to advance their careers or are down on their luck and unemployed. Usually the listings are along the same lines as the one I originally submitted my resume to. While I'm sure that some people are able to make a decent living from selling insurance, their recruiting tactics really rub me the wrong way, and because of their dishonesty I'm making sure to ask anyone who talks about buying a policy from them or working for them, to run, not walk, away. Until they make an effort to change their practices, I'll continue to do so. I have nothing against the insurance industry - my grandfather made a great career as an Allstate agent so I just want to be clear that this is simply my beef with one insurance company in particular.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

None - I wasn't really asked about my background, just whether I had any questions for the interviewer.
