      Sales Associate Interview

      18 May 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Lakewood, CA
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at American Income Life (Lakewood, CA) in May 2018

      Interview

I applied through Zip Recruiter under the full and complete impression that there was a base salary of $75,000 - $125,000 plus uncapped commissions and residuals. I heard back the next day from an AIL Recruiter stating that they’d like to bring me in for an interview but that my only concern is that if the job posting was accurate about the base salary of which the recruiter stated, yes, indeed, it is. Only to have to go in through the interview process to find out it’s a 100% commission based position. Zero paid training. Zero paid expenses. Zero mileage reimbursement. Nothing. For up to nearly 90+ days. They state that you will never hear of AIL anywhere advertising wise because they believe in cutting overhead costs. Well if that’s true then they have no business not giving a base for this position. Sounds like a greedy company only for profit that’s unwilling to support their own employees. And expects everything from the employee for zero pay. That’s called slavery not employment. Sorry.

      Interview

Pushy attitude from the interviewers. They were essentially trying to get me to sign on the a pyramid scheme where they took a percentage of the sales I generated. They also wanted to to pay up front for the training course which was a red flag for me.

      Interview

You first attend a zoom meeting/ presentation regarding the overview of the job and the benefits of the position. If you take the survey, they will review your resume and, if you are a good fit, they will contact you further to set up an interview. From there, you undergo the interview, which gives you more information on the position and then, if you have performed well, an offer is made.

      Interview

It was fairly straight forward. There were 3 interviews and a coupled zoom calls. Still deciding if I should still with them. They seem really nice. There is no base salary, all commison and all remote as well
