      Flight Attendant Interview

      19 Aug 2022
      Anonymous employee
      Dallas, TX
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 months. I interviewed at American Airlines (Dallas, TX) in Jul 2022

      Interview

First step was applying on their website! I believe that my cover letter made me stand out. I used canva.com for both my resume and cover letter. I recommend personalizing your cover letter with a professional photo of yourself. After that is an online assessment which is pretty easy just be yourself and answer honestly. Next step, if chosen, is your virtual interview. Read ALL documents emailed to you this is important! They tell you what to wear, what software to download and even go as detailed as telling you how they would like your background to look. It seems minuscule in the moment but, it shows from the start that you know how to follow directions. Each person in my class was told to introduce themselves, where they're from, as well as one thing they like to do in their city. Once that is done everyone will answer one questions and have one minute to do so. Be yourself, be confident, you will succeed. YAY you've made it to the fun part- the in person interview. It is critical once again that you read ALL provided documents thoroughly. Keep in mind that they are watching your behavior from the moment you get on the plane. Be kind to everyone you meet-this should be a given. Once I made it to the facility I was provided a name tag and escorted into a room with the rest of the interviewees. I did my best to socialize with as many people as I possibly could. A lot of people I actually noticed from the virtual interview and it was a great conversation starter. I made sure to keep a smile on my face at all times and call everyone, I MEAN everyone by name. I feel like this made me stand out a lot- I didn't recognize anyone else do this. While chatting there will be someone in the room observing you and another person bringing you to a separate room one by one to verify passports, flight times, and give you another name tag. Everything throughout the process is a calculated test. Don't remember your flight time? first red flag. You get the point. Once this is done all interviewees are brought to a large conference room and split up table by table for the group interviews and a group activity. First is the activity! My group organized a galley- they mainly wanted to see you have the ability to work well as a team. Next is the group interviews. You will be asked a series of questions by 5 different interviewers be sure to answer in the STAR method. I will be honest I do not remember any questions I was asked but, I do remember I remained confident and collected. Don't be afraid to laugh at yourself if you stumble over your words - you're a human. Once group interviews were up all interviewers left and our host put on a presentation about American Airlines. He goes over the history, pay, bases, and a little bit of tips and tricks. Come prepared with questions. At this point people were being brought out into groups for a reach test and a jump seat test. They are testing to see if you're tall enough for the position. I could barley reach but, they encouraged me and cheered me along and I did it. Smile and laugh at yourself if your struggling. These people are here to encourage you. Every employee I met was SO kind and continued to go above and beyond to make everyone comfortable. Now is the scary part- tensions are high and people will be going home. If your name does not get called you made it to.. The one on one interviews! It's your time to shine. Be yourself and show off you're lovely personality. Connect with them as much as you can. Mine had me read a "Flight Script" that said welcome to flight 1 from dallas to your future or something along those lines. Me and the lady celebrated together then I was brought to drug testing and finger prints. Only around 7 of 50 interviewers made it so, if you're one of them be proud of yourself. This whole process is very long, it's taken me around 6 months from the day of applying and I still have yet to begin training. I have emailed a lot of people with no responses. I finally got ahold of someone and was told to expect all information for training one week before arrival. I am so excited and I genuinely love every person I have interacted with throughout this process. They are rooting for you, so be confident. Yes it's a long process no you are guaranteed the position but in the end it it a truly amazing experience with a lot of amazing people. Tips/reminders- smile at all times read all content you receive via email watch what you post on social media (I heard an interviewer tell someone this) be yourself- i know it sounds silly but it's true
