      Project Manager Interview

      26 Oct 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Amelia (New York, NY) in Apr 2017

      Interview

I was contacted by their internal reruiter for a intro call. He was friendly and proceeded with setting up another phone interview with another project manager. The 2nd interview went well as the interviewer asked some pretty basic questions about project management and agile/sprint. Afterwards recruiter set me up for a half-day interview with 4-5 different people. Prior to the this interview, I received a form asking my past salary history. I told the recruiter I am not going to put my salary history as these are personal information. He got mad and basically said if I don't put in the salary history, the onsite interview cannot proceed. I politely thanked him and declined the onsite interview, figured I probably won't want to work for an organization where they treat candidates badly and forces them to disclose salary history. As of April 2017, employers in NYC can no longer ask for candidates' salary history as it is illegal. These guys should know better.

      Interview

First got a call from a recruiter and after ~15 min call wanted to bring me on-site immediately. Went for the on site and wasn’t given an offer because I didn’t have one element of experience they were looking for. That was understandable but still frustrating since I could have been weeded out with a proper call with a hiring manager and not wasted the time and mental strain of doing an on site. Anyway, months later I’m contacted for a position in a different department and recruiter wants to bring me on site immediately again but I insisted on a call with hiring manager this time to avoid what happened the previous go-around. Call went great and they still wanted to bring me on site but then email the day before to cancel because they’re now going in another direction. My overall feeling is that they don’t really value people’s time or effort you go through to prep for an interview
