      Treasury Management Implementation Specialist Interview

      28 Nov 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Houston, TX
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Amegy Bank (Houston, TX) in Oct 2023

      Interview

Awful. I was contacted on a Wednesday evening by a recruiter wanting to set up an interview in the next two days, this was not a screen interview. I applied to the position two weeks prior and at some point I had received an email indicating that my application was sent directly to the Hiring Manager. I thought it was strange that there seemed to be a rush in interviewing me given the date of my application. I decided to go ahead and interview because I had implementation experience, experience more similar to working in a SaaS than treasury management. The first interview consisted of 3 senior leaders asking questions. Things got awkward when an even more senior leader would popped in and out in the middle of the interview. She did not asked questions and I was unable to see her face because of the screen size (she was behind my face). Although I did not get a positive response by the Hiring Manager, I was still asked to prepare an email within 48 hours explaining why I was the best fit for the position. I asked clarification if 'fit' or 'candidate' and they said 'fit'. I went ahead in submitted my response because I figured that maybe they wanted to test my writing skills. The Hiring Manager thanked me for the effort and corrected me when I used the word 'fit' and replied that they were still interviewing candidates and that within 1-2 weeks the recruiter would let me know. I wanted to be proactive and followed up after those 2 weeks with the recruiter. Coincidentally, the recruiter just happens to tell me that I will be moving to the second round in person. When I got there, the hiring manager led me to the room. We took up an elevator and to try to make things less awkward I tried to start conversation. I asked him who will be in this floor. I asked to see if they shared space with other depts but in one of those most condescending tones I have ever heard, he proceeds to explain to me how elevators work! (That's not okay at all. Imagine how he speaks to his employees.)The second interview consisted of two other leaders, one that only asked two questions. I don't think they wanted to acknowledge my skills and strengths. I have experience doing configurations and troubleshooting. I have experience with deadlines and juggling assignments but they tried to ask questions that seemed to have only one right exact answer I guess based on what they do here. Anyway, at the end of this interview I was asked by one of the managers if I was interested in another position in customer service. This pretty much told me I wasn't getting the position. When I said I was interested, another sr manager tabbed him in the shoulder and murmured something. I never received an invitation to apply or interview for this other position and I thought that was so disrespectful to do. I was rejected two days after this interview.
