I was contacted by the consultancy for this position. I was already holding 1 offer from another organization but considering the bigger name and brand value of Amdocs I confirmed my interest. I shared my other information like my current salary, last working day, the offer being held by me and expected salary. After this, my profile got shortlisted.
I appeared and cleared 1st round of technical interview which was taken on Friday evening by the Project Manager (about 15 years of experience) and a technical member of the team (not sure about his total experience). The interview went for more than an hour. They were happy with my answers and profile and explained the role or person they are looking for.
Next day, I was informed that I have cleared this round and my next 1hr round of interview was scheduled on Monday morning which was techno-managerial round. One of the directors of Amdocs appeared for this round as interviewer. He started with general questions like my roles and responsibilities and why I want to leave the current organization. I explained my point of view which was to evolve my role from a senior engineer to a lead engineer. 7 minutes completed.
Then comes the twist, he asked my current salary and expected salary. When I told him that as informed, this is my expected salary. He started LAUGHING and told me to be reasonable and give some figure which is around 30-40% of my current CTC. I told him that it is reasonable from my perspective and tried to explain my point of view. But he interrupted me quite a few times by saying let's stop the discussion right here as your expectations are not reasonable from industry point of view (and not just Amdocs point of view). I was very shocked to hear this as someone who is in the industry for many many years still has that "save the billing at whatever cost" approach. He was not very much interested to listen any explanations and we had to conclude the interview right away. He didn't try even once to negotiate or discuss further.
This is not for the first time I have experienced this from Amdocs. Before more than four years, I was selected by Amdocs and I cleared all the rounds including HR round. My salary was discussed, documents were taken and then there was no offer letter sent for which I constantly tried to approach the HRs and consultancy and wasn't responded back.
In conclusion, Amdocs hiring process is one of the worst in the industry as per my opinion. There is either communication gap between the consultancy and the company or the HRs think that a candidate will do miracles just to join Amdocs by somehow reducing their notice period or agreeing for "industry accepted" salary.
I'm blacklisting Amdocs from my future endeavors.
