      Assistant Manager Interview

      10 Dec 2019
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Altar'd State in Dec 2019

      Interview

I applied online through indeed, then got a link to a personality/management style questionnaire through my email. Then a day or so later, the store manager called me to set up an interview a week in advance because one of her (2) DMs would be in the store and she wanted to knock both interviews out at once, but first she sent my info to a recruiter for a phone interview. The phone interview was about 30 minutes, she mostly talked to me about the company (they're very big on giving back to the community and do a lot of charity work) and then asked me about my work experience and any volunteer work I've done. It was, overall, a pleasant experience. The in-person interview with the manager and the DM lasted almost an hour and a half. I got there a little early, and looked around the store (they're very big on visual merchandising... BEAUTIFUL displays everywhere) for a while until they came from the back to meet with me. We went outside the store and sat down and chatted. It actually just felt like chatting. It was a very comfortable experience. The DM and the store manager took turns asking me questions -- the company focuses mostly on people and culture than on numbers which is something I am very comfortable and familiar with from my last company. They asked me if I had any questions (TIP: ALWAYS ask questions. Interviewers want to know you're interested in the company and serious about working there). I asked about LP policy (very similar to my last company as well) and closing recovery (also very similar to my last company -- close to open) as well as the onboarding/training experience. They seemed pleased with my questions. A few days later, I had a phone interview with the second DM. She was running behind schedule, so she gave me heads up that she would be calling me about 30 minutes late. That one was a little more difficult -- more chat about numbers, management style, etc. Still was a relatively pleasant experience, though! At each stage, I was asked about salary expectations. I knew the salary range because it was on the indeed listing, but accidentally sold myself short with the recruiter because I wasn't prepared to discuss salary so early on (my fault entirely) but I remained consistent through each of the interviews because they were all taking notes to compare.

      Interview

Friendly. Asked questions about previous work experience, explained duties and responsibilities of the assistant manager. I felt comfortable during the whole experience. Overall was a great interview, was a little short but sometimes that happens. Love the company.

      Interview

Stay away from the recruiter she’s a liar , and really good at wasting your time ! She’ll tell you the that a position has been filled , and you will see job posted a few days later. Listen to the bad reviews they are true they try to say they do good because they give back to the community but are filled with dishonest people
