I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Ally Financial in Oct 2021
Interview
I was contacted by a recruiter for this role which would have started out on a contract basis. The initial conversation with the hiring manager was great and I was optimistic.
Things quickly turned for the worse when I had 4 interviews over the course of two weeks. The first was a development lead who I was slotted an hour for. He was 15 minutes late because he didn’t have the right zoom link. He then bailed after 15 minutes because he said he had a conflict. Even during that time he was withdrawn and disinterested.
My final interview was supposed to be with the hiring manager on a Friday and was assured I’d have a decision in this drawn out process by the end of that day. I never met with the manager and instead met with a couple of product people. It felt very rushed.
On the following Monday I was given feedback that was missing several key skills (to which I still haven’t received feedback as to what that is) and they wouldn’t be moving forward with me.
I really would avoid them if this is how they handle their own employees.

Can you provide a time where a feature didn’t come out as planned and how you handled that?
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Ally Financial in Feb 2026
Interview
First is the phone-screen with the recruiter. Two rounds of interview, second round is generally a panel interview on-site. Takes around 2-3 weeks from first round to wrap up and get an answer.
About what you'd expect from product interviews. Then ghosted. Pretty garbage experience. They should try to do better. Even horrible companies shoot out an email. Perhaps aspire to have a recruiting experience on par with horrible companies.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Ally Financial
Interview
Was referred to this role by a colleague at a former job. Heard good things and was interested in pursuing the role. I never actually talked on the phone with a recruiter, except for one time when one of the interviewers no-showed. Everything was coordinated on the phone. I went through 4 total interviews with various individuals. In the end, after going through all of that, I got a response from the recruiter stating that they are pursuing candidates with more years experience for the role. If my years of experience was the issue in hiring me for the role, I do not understand why that wasn't brought up early in the screening process. I felt like my time was wasted.
