I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Air Canada (Toronto, ON)
Interview
Submitted my resume Christmas Eve 2016
Got a call for a phone interview on January 17th, 2017 which was pretty standard interview questions everyone would be prepared for.
Got invited to a recruitment day on January 27th. This included approx. 35 other applicants. We lined up, showed all of our valid IDs, sat in a large room for 45 mins listening to a slide show about the company. We were numbered, and they began calling numbers randomly. The one on one interview was very easy and laid back with simple questions about you and your past experiences in the customer service industry. Once finished, you went back to the large room and they would call out 4 people to do a group interview in the other room which entailed giving us a situation on an aircraft and amongst ourselves we had to determine the best solutions. Every once in a while a lady would come into the large room and call a few people out & ask them to leave.
I was offered to go for my medical, which is scheduled next week!!
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Phone interview- why do you want to work for us, what skills are important in a flight attendant, what is your favourite app on your phone, how do you think you would do in a leadership role
In person- tell me some things about you that I wouldn't know looking at your resume, name a time when you gave great customer service, name a stressful situation and how you handled it, what traits do you have that you would bring to the team and company
Fair but alot of questions. Be prepared with many scenarios that demonstrates customer service and your ability to react to emergencies. Being friendly and dress appropriately is also very important
The interview process comprises an initial group meeting with all applicants, followed by a concise overview of Air Canada. Subsequently, the larger group will be segmented into two or three smaller units for individual interviews. These interviews are designed to assess your interpersonal skills, cognitive processes, and professional bearing. You will be presented with a scenario for discussion, followed by a video analysis focusing on a flight attendant's actions, requiring you to evaluate their appropriateness.
It was a great experince doing an interview, even though I didn’t make the cut during the last interview for Air Canada. Overall it was a great journey. It does bring my hopes up because I lasted till the finals.
