      Mental Health Technician Interview

      13 Aug 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Kailua, HI
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at Adventist Health (Kailua, HI) in Jul 2020

      Interview

When I applied I went through a few steps. The first step will ask you to do a video recorded interview through the app HireVue. This wasn't so bad but it definitely felt awkward because it was a one way interview that basically just recorded your answers. About a couple days later I contacted the hospital with questions about what I have to do next because I never got an e-mail or phone call about next steps. I got contacted about doing an in-person interview about a week after I contacted them. The in-person interview was done over the HireVue app again due to the social distancing rules. I was the last interview for that position and right after the interview I was told that I would get contacted either that day or early the next week for on their decision for the position. Before the end of the call the interviewer kept trying to get me to apply to part time positions and positions that had me doing minimal to no work in departments that I wasn't interested in working in because they had heard that I was a student in college. I made it very clear that I am a very organized individual who have been working full time (40 hours a week) and attending college full time for two years before I applied to this job. The people interviewing me did not make me feel welcomed or wanted at all in this whole interview. A week later and I haven't heard anything back from this hospital about the position at all. I reached out to the talent acquisition manager that set the interview appointment up for me and I was told that the decision is still pending but I should hear back within that week. Well, Friday comes around and I still haven't heard anything back again. So, I contact the talent acquisition person again and I still received the same answer as the week before. Two weeks later I email the talent acquisition gentleman again and shortly after I finally received the email saying they're proceeding with a different candidate but didn't bother to call or give me a chance to ask questions or whatnot. Overall I would rate this whole experience negatively because there was a huge lack of communication on the hospital's part. The interview wasn't difficult but the interviewers didn't seem to care about me or my interest in the position.
