Interview
I was invited to the office for an interview via Self-Schedule website. Interview process is fairly simple mainly going over our role in the company and what the company does. Second interview goes more into detail about the position and available opportunities
I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Advanced Branding Consultants (Phoenix, AZ) in Mar 2019
Interview
I found this company's posting on Zip Recruiter. They sold it as a 'communications specialist' position and wrote a very realistic description of what such a title might entail. Unfortunately, when I got there, that was not at all what I was presented with. Even though they ask you on the form you fill out once you get there to write down what position you applied for, it's more of a formality. The position I applied for was not available. Not even close. This company uses that to get you to apply and then throws a 'sales' job at you which basically amounts to cold sales at various locations. The pay is about $11 an hour plus commission but they tell you that you have all kinds of potential for commission. Basically, whatever the job description on their posting is, most likely is a lie to get you in the door. At the end of the day, that position doesn't exist and they just want you to do cold sales.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
A dead give away that this job wasn't at all what I applied for is that the only questions I was asked were: "does this sound like something you'd be interested in" and "tell me about what you're looking for." Once I said what I was looking for, it was immediately disregarded and I was given the outline of a cold sales job that had nothing to do with what I applied for.
