Contacted by recruiter and interviewed via phone twice. Was assured that salary would be competitive (I was earning base of $100,000 plus bonus of $19,000 plus retirement contribution of $30,000 plus multiple other benefits at the time). Met Regional Manager two times and toured stores. Met with Regional and Director of Retail Operations at a store's office. I have very deep and broad experience in the industry so a few of the questions seemed infantile and were easy to answer. Others were downright amateurish. I was formally offered the position via letter from corporate but turned it down when the salary was revealed to be $80,000. Attempts to negotiate were met with "that's what we pay." Apparently when I was interviewed by the Regional Manager and the Director of Retail Operations, I was the highest earning person in the room.
