      Financial Analyst Interview

      13 Feb 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Austin, TX
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Accruent (Austin, TX) in Feb 2018

      Interview

It was initially very quick and streamlined. I applied and received a request to take an online assessment within a week. After I took the assessment I was asked for my availability for an initial phone interview. I submitted my availability for the next two weeks and received no response. After the third week I received an email saying that changes to the team caused the confusion so they asked for my availability again so I submitted my availability for two weeks out again and again received no response. Finally they just emailed me directly asking for my availability and finally set up the time for the phone interview. This was almost 2 months after the initial application and well over a month after they first contacted me. During the phone call they only asked me extremely basic questions and most of them were on the application such as my availability to start. The tone they used when they emailed me was more aggressive towards me as if I was being difficult and not responding even though I submitted my availability the same day that they asked. By the time they actually did the initial phone interview I'm pretty sure that the job was no longer available and they were ultimately just wasting my time.

      Question 1

They asked if I was still interested and my availability and willingness to move to Austin

      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Accruent (Austin, TX)

      Interview

The interview process was very quick and that is worth noting, maybe like 2 or 3 weeks. They don't waste too much time at all which I really appreciated as a job candidate. I had a call with the recruiter who was accommodating to a reschedule which again I really appreciated. I had to do the wonderlic personality and math assessment combo, then they invited me on-site for an interview. I met with the VP and a couple of members of the management team. The team seemed to be in complete disarray with the recent Fortive acquisition. They operate in over 10 industries and have over 140 products. The manager basically told me that they are struggling to figure things out, everybody works late hours, and their forecasts and budgets are hardly in-line with their actuals. I'm certainly looking for a new challenge, but I also don't want to find myself stuck on a team that is seemingly young, inexperienced, and can't figuring things out. Even if they had offered me the job, I would've been entering a job where the expectations were high and challenges were great. This is not always a bad thing until they tell you that they're prepared to offer only 50K for this role. So to recap - long hours, a team in disarray, high expectations...for 50K!? No thanks. Reading some of the other reviews, the low-ball salary seems to be a common thing. They offer good benefits and make an effort to hire and promote internally which is appealing. The office location is also in a really cool place right in the middle of the Domain, but ultimately, they will cut you way short on the salary. Perhaps their approach is to hire young and inexperienced and then work those lower level employees to the bone. My salary expectations were too high for Accruent, but not any unreasonable for someone with a few years of experience. I appreciated the interview and the speed of the process, but it was clear they wren't going to match my salary expectations. I think they need to be more clear about what their real salary offering will be instead of dragging a candidate through the process just to deny in the end because we can't agree on salary. Somewhat of a waste of time.
