      Night Receptionist Interview

      29 Apr 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Accor (London, England) in Apr 2019

      Interview

I applied online for a night receptionist role at the London Excel Ibis Styles using my CV and a cover letter. I was contacted a few days later via email by the manager who requested for me to give him a call, I called almost immediately and he asked if I could “come in” the following day, I asked if I needed to bring anything else but he said “just bring yourself”, I was very optimistic. I took my right to work documents, arrived early and dressed smartly but when he saw me he looked less than pleased, the ‘interview’ took place in the hotel restaurant with customers listening to his questions and my responses but I maintained composure and answered all questions very well. Before rushing me out, the manager asked “if I hired you, how long would you stay with the company?” to which he frowned when I responded with “a couple of years”, he also said he didn’t think I’d be interested in working the night shifts “because nobody likes working the night shifts”. I was told that he was still interviewing and that he would get back to me by the end of that week to let me know if I got the position, I never heard from him again. The second role I applied for on Accor Hotels was never acknowledged, it still says ‘being reviewed’ after several weeks but at least that one didn’t make me waste my time and money to knock my self esteem in person. I am very disappointed in the hiring process and I will definitely not recommend.
