      Case Manager Interview

      9 Jan 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Columbus, OH
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Access Ohio (Columbus, OH) in Dec 2016

      Interview

The interviewer walks you back to his office and asks you maybe 2 or 3 questions and will then tell you that he has to run it by some people and will get back with you either way. When I applied for the position I got an offer for an interview the next day and when I responded with a date and time and asked if that worked for them they did not respond at all (they basically ditched me). Then a couple of weeks later they e-mailed me again and said "I have availability for an interview on December 20 or 22 in the afternoon. Are you able to make one of those days?" There was no apology for ditching me or even mention of it at all, they just assumed that I wouldn't notice I guess. When I finally got to the interview they were late for the interview. When the interview started they had maybe 2 or so questions for me and I had 14 questions for them, an evaluation from my current employer, my resume and cover letter, and three or four already answered questions typed out that I had predicted they would ask me. In short, they were late, rude, and I was way more prepared than they were for the interview. The following information will be helpful if you ever go to apply for a CM position there...they told me that they DO NOT hold team meetings, the case load is 50 on a good day and 50-100 on a bad day (for perspective, a normal case load is 35-45) and bad days seem to happen more often and the case load almost never goes down because they don't discharge patients that often. When I asked him how well their team works together they basically said...we manage. There are basically zero benefits; the benefits they do kind of offer are a joke. Also, you can get raises based on your performance but it sounds as if the employees will never be good enough for a raise. THE GOOD THINGS about this position...if you are just starting out in the field the pay is not horrible (I was quoted at $15 hr to start for CM's) and if you are still a student they said they will work around your schedule. OVERALL...I would not recommend this place for anyone (especially if you are new to the field) because it appears you will get burnt out in your first week or two there.
