After applying online I received a hurried phone call with little more information about the position than what was in the job posting. The HR person asked for my email to send a couple projects to work on that were due back in a few days. On the morning the projects were due, I received a phone call from HR saying she sent the wrong projects and sent the correct projects to that were due again in a few days. I was a little concerned all of this work was just another tool to narrow down the candidates without actually interviewing them. I asked her if I was going to talk with someone in the department after submitting the projects and if they have already seen my portfolio. I was assured I was going to speak with someone as the next step and they have already seen my portfolio. I was unable to finish all of the projects because of a personal matter that came up the next day. But after sending all projects, I received an automated email saying I was not chosen for the next step. I sent an email to the HR Rep asking to clear up my confusion why I received that email before interviewing with the department hiring manager. Days later I spoke with her on the phone and she did not have an answer to why the process broke down. The hiring process was very unorganized with poor communication throughout. When you are interviewing and hiring, each party should put their best foot forward. If this is how the company is ran, I dogged a bullet.
