      Web Methods Developer Interview

      3 May 2013
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Dayton, OH
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Accenture (Dayton, OH) in Jan 2013

      Interview

This process rubbed me the wrong way. I actually ended up cutting the process short from my end in the middle of it. Even though the job title is Web Methods Developer, it is actually a Java Developer position located in Dayton, OH. First off, I was contacted by a recruiter. He ended up calling me several times in one day, leaving a voice mail, and even sending an email for good measure. They were pretty aggressive/overbearing throughout the process. When I finally called him back at the end of that day, he acted all confused as if he didn't know who I was. He scheduled a phone interview with him for the next day, which only ended up taking about 10 minutes, so I don't know why he couldn't have just talked to me when I called him back. He asked my desired salary and I gave him the range I was looking at. His reply was "So $[the bottom number of that range], then." That set off a red flag that they were desperate to quickly fill a position as cheaply as possible. He just set up another phone interview with another recruiter for later that day. That one went better and was about 30 minutes. It was your basic screening interview. She sent me a screening application to fill out which asked a lot of detailed questions about my personal debt and loans and stuff. They said it was a precursor to the security clearance I would need for the job. She also brought up salary and mentioned concerns about my ballpark range. Anyway, she wanted me to fill out the forms and then schedule an interview with the manager for the next week. After sitting and thinking on things, I decided that I didn't want to pursue the process with them any further citing my concern that I didn't think the position was in the salary range I was looking for. I got bombarded by calls, emails, and texts daily for a week by both of these recruiters. Overall, I'm glad I didn't make very forward with them. They just came off as too aggressive and desperate, not in a good way.
