The interview process started off smoothly, and the recruiter seemed genuinely enthusiastic during the initial phone screen. I was then advanced to speak with the hiring manager, whose demeanor came across as somewhat disengaged. They turned off their camera without notice, which gave the impression that they weren’t fully present during the conversation. Their tone was subdued, but I remained focused and did my best to showcase my knowledge and enthusiasm for the role.
While the recruiter was pleasant and transparent, the interaction with the hiring manager felt a bit off perhaps due to fatigue, though it’s difficult to say. I was told I’d be contacted with an outcome, but I never received a follow-up and eventually had to reach out myself to inquire about next steps. At that point, I was informed that they had decided to move forward with candidates who more closely matched their needs.
I was admittedly disappointed, especially since they had initially reached out to me, encouraged me to apply, and scheduled the interview. I thought the conversation went well, but as always, you never truly know what’s happening behind the scenes. That said, I do appreciate the effort they made early on to move me through the process especially in today’s competitive job market, where getting an interview itself can be a challenge. The experience offered some valuable insight into the dynamics at play.
