I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at ASM in Oct 2023
Interview
A recruiter invited me to meet their team at an online job fair. It was a 10-minute interview with the manager and almost a week later they arranged an hour-long interview (MS Teams) with the same person. Nobody showed up in the first 10 minutes so I emailed HR to ask what I was supposed to do. They told me to wait for another 10 minutes. After waiting for half an hour I dropped the call and informed HR that no one showed up! 15 minutes later (45 minutes after the time the interview was supposed to start) the manager called me and asked if I was still available. I made myself available shortly.

Question 1
Detailed questions about many characterization techniques regardless of whether I listed them in my resume or not!
The interview process for a Process Engineer at ASM in Leuven felt quite structured and professional overall. It started with an initial screening where the recruiter asked about my background, motivation, and why I was interested in working in semiconductor process engineering. That was followed by one or two technical interviews with members of the team, where they really dug into my knowledge of thin‑film processes, deposition tools, and how I’d approach troubleshooting in a fab environment.
Later on, there was a more in‑depth discussion with the hiring manager and another senior engineer, which felt more like a conversation about problem‑solving, safety, and continuous improvement than just a classic Q&A. At one point I was asked to walk through a past project, which I thought was a great way for them to see how I analyze data, optimize processes, and collaborate with others. Overall, the process felt thorough but fair, and it gave me a clear sense that ASM in Leuven values both technical depth and the ability to work in a team.
No technical questions were asked just described previous job and I was explained about the job I am applying. Shortly after I received a final interview with top management. It has postponed several times but final one was mostly director explaining the company.
Interview was fine. Company outlook is not good currently, really bad management and pay parity to the rest of the industry. I am surprised people with high end qualification choose to work here at all.
