Interview
HR interview, then two more hiring manager reviews after that. Mostly fit and personality questions. They also give you an Excel test after the HR interview that test basic finance formulas and some problem solving/attention to detail questions.
I applied through university. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at AMG National Trust (Greenwood Village, CO) in May 2018
Interview
I had one phone interview and that was it. I was called by I think the Hiring Manager. The person I talked to wasn't so friendly. He was very direct in his approach, and I know that many people will say, "oh they are just testing you, or they just want to see how you handle it," however, I just graduated college and have been working in retail/restaurants for 7 years, and I have dealt with many rude people and I have been just fine. I usually just brush it off. However, for a position, and for someone that I was supposed to be working for, I didn't really like it. I want to work for someone that is nice, not someone that is trying to "rule out candidates."
I am now an entry-level Financial Analyst somewhere else, and I do feel like this place missed out. The big thing that got me was his questioning. I had a few internships and he asked me what a Financial Analyst means to me. I mentioned things from Corporate Finance. Now, I'm not going to act like I'm an expert, but no matter what you are doing within Financial Analysis, the position is relatively the same. In Corporate Finance I tend to be analyzing and looking over financial statements, and in Corporate Finance you are doing a similar thing. To this interviewer, it seemed as though he thought I couldn't do the job just because my internship experience was from Corporate Finance. He cut me off there and said he'll keep my resume on file (and we all know what that means...). Neither here nor there. Whether I am right or wrong, the interviewer rubbed me the wrong way, and I would recommend not wasting your time. And I hope you know I don't say that because I didn't get the offer. Halfway through the interview I was about to say I don't think this is the right fit, specifically because of the guy's personality.
