      Graduate Process Engineer Interview

      Anonymous employee
      Warrington, North West England, England
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at ABB (Warrington, North West England, England) in Oct 2019

      Interview

It took around 1-1.5 months for the entire process. CV is to be submitted online which was reviewed and I received an email after 2-3 weeks regarding a screening call and after that in a week or so an invite to the Graduate Assessment day which involved Technical interview, Behavioural questions and team activities. Do mind that they assess you even during the lunch break. Overall it was a 9-4 typical assessment day. 2 days before this you are asked to submit a verbal and mathematics online test.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

      1. Description of a chemical process and reaction was given and I was asked to design a PFD and apply appropriate controls. The questions mostly focused on the utilities, process controls and safety of the process. 2. In behaviour questions, I was asked questions about time management, team work, past experiences around the same. I used the Situation, Task, Approach and Result (STAR) method to answer the same. Beware you need to be prepared for the same and have some examples ready. On the spot answers never go well, at least personally.
