There was no interview. They skipped to a background check. I applied online 4/10 and haven't heard anything. No phone interview. No emails. No in-person interview. Yesterday I received a third party email asking me to click a link to start a preliminary background check, and then respond to the email once I did for the next steps in the hiring process. The email was from an address that was abnormally long, and though it named an alleged employee, it was not their work address, and the email was not formally signed with a name/phone number/company logo. I responded to the email and asked them to send me an email from the bank's own domain. No response. I reached out to the third party investigation company and asked them if the request was legit. They said they would reach out to 3Rivers. I called 3Rivers, but there phone system said it didn't recognize my phone number (I'm not a customer) and I was asked to enter my social security number even to leave the alleged employee a voicemail! What happened to here's my phone number please call me back? I then sent an email to a generic email form on the 3Rivers website (where customers can leave feedback). I got a generic email from a customer support person of some type who said they would forward my concern to the hiring department. It's been over 24 hours and 3Rivers has yet to confirm or deny that they asked me to undergo a background check having never spoken to them before, having never had a phone interview or in-person interview, and having never received an offer of hire. This despite the fact that as employee, they would expect me to recognize customer requests that deviate from standard protocol, suspicious requests for personal information, refusal to provide applicable ID, suspicious emails, and so on. If they are in such a hurry to hire people that they need to conduct background checks before ever giving a single interview, then they don't need over 24 hours to own up to whether the request for a background check was legit or not. I have withdrawn my application.
