What is the salary like at West Health?

The pay is good if you are on senior management's good side

Pretty much everything else. Place is toxic, senior management only focused on making the funders happy and they change their mind all the time. Your best day there will be the day you leave.

Culture and attitude of leadership is very subpar

They pay market wage but it is not worth it. This place is absolutely toxic and will take its toll on your life.

West Health operates under the control of a single billionaire benefactor, who enjoys a tax break by running it as a non-profit. He alone determines its direction, with no input from others. The benefactor has appointed three senior executives whose qualifications are poorly matched to their roles. They remain in place because they comply with his wishes. In the past, capable leaders who challenged him were shown the door. These executives earn close to a million dollars annually, not for innovation or impact, but for ensuring the billionaire’s satisfaction. Their main job is distributing millions of dollars to outside organizations (like large hospital systems), attaching West Health’s name to projects in exchange for this funding. They present these as joint initiatives to the board, despite the reality being far more superficial. The board shows no interest in questioning the narrative. The CEO serves merely as a formality, offering no independent leadership. The result is a high-turnover, hollow organization. Approach with caution.

I will say the best thing about this company is the group of lower end employees that have trauma bonded while working for this company and their efforts to make days more bearable do not go unrecognized. I am absolutely NOT speaking of the "morale" events that are planned by HR.

This is one of the most toxic work environments I have ever worked at. At the head, a money-hungry, extremely petty, resentful, manipulative person with not one lick of consideration or empathy for others. Under her, a group of executives that do everything and anything she demands to continue securing their way too high salary. At the bottom, traumatized employees that are consistently micromanaged, yelled at, disrespected and undermined. Please do not work for this company. The salary will be enticing, please do not let this company use money to trap you.
