What is the hiring process like at Valvoline Instant Oil Change?

      Valvoline Instant Oil Change reviews

      Good job, bad environment

      Former employee

      Business outlook

      Pros

Great way to get your foot in the door for automotive, requires no experience, paid training, quick and easy hiring process. $16/hr wage is pretty good for college students or highschoolers

      Cons

Not across the board, but lots of problem coworkers+management. Expect some racism+general bigotry, low brow behavior and sometimes dangerous coworkers (carrying guns, on drugs, frequent conflicts common)

      Straightforward and Concise!

      Pros

All of the new hire tasks were easy to access and were formatted in a succinct manner. The company itself has been a pleasure to work for, and I feel that I've already acquired so much valuable experience. The work-life balance is also nice as my job is a hybrid position.

      Cons

The hiring process involved using a few usernames and passwords, but once I was more integrated into the company, it got much easier!

Good training but pressured to sell without commission

The system the is in place for new hires to understand the job and get comfortable with the task I believe is A good system that helped me understand the process one step and a time, and I believe the team experienced members are welcoming to help.

      Cons

I wish we had cold water bottles avalible at all time although there is a water fountain

      Pros

      Cons

Pay is not good for the amount of work required Working in the heat is damaging Super hard epoxy floors Bad management tactics Lazy management Aggressive management Belligerent coworkers Customers with severe self entitlement issues

      Pros

The staff are typically cool and you get along with.

      Cons

AM plays favorites lets other stores suffer who are short staffed and says tuff luck. Let’s his friends skip the process and get promoted faster than other staff. Corporate politics have just trickled down the chain to wear it affects normal work life.

      Pros

A pro I have for this internship is how much support and flexibility this internship has been while being a full-time student.

      Cons

A con I have for this internship is the amount of onboarding materials on top of helping the IA team with projects. I think there should be more of a gradual onboarding process where we learn and understand the information first before starting to assist with projects.

great place to get a foot in the door

      Senior technician
      Former employee
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

No experience needed, benefits and pay are good for what the job is, training process is straightforward, great place to get automotive experience, can move up quickly if you work hard. Coworkers are typically 'car guys' if that's your thing, work hours are good

      Cons

very taxing and dirty work especially if you do any under the car work. job becomes less about cars and revolves around sales if you want to move up. Small team so manager and coworkers will make or break your experience. great for entry level experience but if you want more advanced work (diagnostics, repair, electrical) other than changing lightbulbs and fluid flushes, look elsewhere. job is entry level blue collar and so you see mostly men, either teens or early 20s, and the workplace culture that comes with working in an autoshop
