What is typically worn or allowed to be worn at work at Tesla?

Pros

If you're efficient and a go-getter you will be recognized and rewarded with promotions very quickly - age and experience is not a factor (I was one of the youngest managers in my department); Competitive pay; Great benefit packages including free medical insurance; ESPP & Stock Awards; Shared company mission & passionate workers (all levels); Household name and well-known so you will get attention everywhere; Casual expectations for standard "corporate" things such as dress code, professional language, etc.

Cons

Absolutely no work/life balance - the ask and demand at the company's current capacity is too extremely high that turnover rate is atrocious; Work from home is prohibited, so the company has lost some great talent recently and full capacity factories are leading to a surprising amount of unproductive time; Having a public and outspoken CEO leads to crashing stock prices just before employee vesting periods; Engineering teams are favored over support roles and factory roles and are not subject to as many layoffs; Salaried employees are given Flexible Time Off (FTO) instead of PTO, it's claimed to be unlimited but individual managers are allowed to cap allotment at their judgement; HR as a whole has little to no interaction with workers and non-management roles, they are only used to process promotions, performance reviews, or issue disciplinary actions and help managers meet minimal performance requirements.

Advice to Management

Work life balance needs to be addressed - HR/Recruiting is hiring workers and managers that push excessively, which is great for short term productivity, but burnout is imminent and good young talent will avoid working here in the next 10 years because of this; The company still acts like a startup with their systems, organization, management, addressing issues - issues are band-aided and not handled efficiently to ensure similar reoccurrence. Seemed like my team and teams I supported were on an endless loop of recreating the wheel and wasting company resources and time;

known so you will get attention everywhere; Casual expectations for standard "corporate" things such as dress code, professional language, etc.

What is the hiring process like at Tesla?

Pros

The only good thing is the experience

Cons

6-12 cars a day Vacation was not given immediately as promised during hiring process Ancient tools were given to me Management is useless, anything that makes sense is frowned upon Very few people know what they’re doing You will get more work for the same pay as you get better You will not get a raise no matter how good you are

Advice to Management

All it takes is one bad manager to ruin something good, if you can prevent that you’re on the right track.
