What is a typical working day like at Spectrum?

Violation of Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)

      Anonymous employee
      Former employee

      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Benefits and PTO policy along with their tuition assistance program.

      Cons

Management is completely unfamiliar with the federal laws on wages and reporting. It seems like they lack knowledge of the fair labor standards act (FLSA) which is extremely important in their roles to a non-exempt hourly workforce. This has been an ongoing issue for years and an increase in violations in the more recent year with changes to management. The non-exempt hourly team is continually asked to perform work off the clock including but not limited to signing into the work phone and laptop hours before their shift to determine their route for the day which can easily take 20-30 minutes. Under FLSA that would be compensable time. They have also told the team that work meetings/training are to be considered their lunch breaks on multiple occasions regardless of the fact that not everyone can eat the limited food selections and that they are technically working and on the clock. These practices are what causes low moral and negative culture at Spectrum. Considering the leadership continues to ask employees to work without pay which is completely unacceptable and has already been brought to executive leadership via anonymous emails over two months ago now with little to no resolution to this matter.

It takes a very specific type of person

      Multi tenant sales representative

      Business outlook

      Pros

Benefits and PTO are excellent. You get your mornings to yourself, if you want.

      Cons

You’re going to knock doors. That’s all they actually want you to do. Completely forget about the multi tenant/property management aspect, they just want you to knock doors. If you like knocking doors, this will be a great job and you will make a lot of money. But, to reiterate: the only way to make money is at the door. You do make a lot of money selling at the door, if you can, but that is truly the only way to get a commission check. You’ll be knocking doors all day every day. Actually, it’s knocking doors all day and night because you’ll be knocking doors until 8:30-9:00pm every evening, as that is when people are actually home and available.

great benefits . yearly merit raise

      Cons

not enough shift bids, adding more tasks to current workload

Opportunity for Advancement but No Work-Life Balance

      Senior supply chain analyst (planner)
      Current employee
      Charlotte, NC
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Enjoy the people I work with. 4/1 hybrid work schedule. Opportunity for advancement and movement.

      Cons

Work-life balance isn't there. Working through lunch, all hours at night and weekend is a regular occurrence. It isn't necessary in non-management positions but management and higher, it is expected in order to advance.

Amazing Benefits, Good Career Outlook, Lots of OT

      Field service technician
      Current employee
      Grand Junction, CO
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Livable Wage Free College (select schools) AD&D, 401K matching 6%, Long-term & Short-term Disability Inexpensive benefits for health, vision, dental, mental health 10% pay bump when progressing, can go from 20.50 to 35 in barely a couple years

      Cons

Typical issues with a blue-collar environment (physical stress) Expected to answer texts/calls off-clock (regionally dependent) Unexpected Overtime, expect your workweek to actually be 45+ hrs (does pay 1.5x for OT, holidays are 1.5x + 2x) Little work-life balance First 30 min before shift you are expected to be driving to the destination without clocking in. This means if you are in a town 2 hours away from destination, you will drive 1.5 hours on the clock, and .5 off.

If all you care about is money

      Business outlook

      Pros

Dollar per hr rates are really good and tons of benefits

      Cons

This place would rather fire someone for language used versus firing someone who just sits in their truck all night and had no productivity. Poor schedule

      Outside Sales

      Sales
      Current employee
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

You get to work outside. You work in the field at your own pace. The benefits are fair. The base salary is competitive. Great job for a college student or person without kids that live at home.

      Cons

You're required to work to pitch dark every night through out the year. They ask every week if your working the weekend and your required to work one weekend day. This is all fine if you don't have a family or social life. The competition is fierce and their offers aren't competitive enough to win the trust back from many burnt customers. The leads have been work entirely too much and which makes it very difficult to produce enough sales to get ahead in this local economy. You don't get enough information on the products and are expected to find the answers yourself.
