      Business outlook

      Pros

      - Gratis every month only if you are Part-time or Full-time, not Flex (Free beauty products to test out and give advice on). - 30% in-store discount, 40% on Sephora Collection brand (and online; only for Part-time or Full-time), - Friendly co-workers and brand reps (in my store anyway). - You get to test what works for you and what doesn't (skincare and makeup). - On the job, quick knowledge (if you're into makeup like that). - Occasional food catered to stores on event days. - Opportunities to volunteer with local shelters, charities, etc. - Very inclusive and diverse, two of the best values this company has.

      Cons

      - Positions available * Full-time gets anywhere from 32-40 a week, usually management only, no positions open (right now anyways) * Part-time is roughly around 20-30 (No one in my store qualified for this) * Flex is anywhere from 0-20 a week (The new position begins on 02/26/2024 and my entire store got switched over in less than a month's notice) This all depends on how many hours your store gets. - Hours get cut a lot, the only time you get your full hours would be during Oct-Jan (Holiday season); not for anyone who has kids or needs to pay bills. I would recommend it if you have a higher-paying part-time job, if you need something to do 3-4 days a week, or if you just need pocket money. (For reference, I get paid $16.07/hr, and get scheduled anywhere from 18-24 hours a week) - Attendance system; being late equals calling out of work, and each time you are late/call out takes 6 months to fall off your record. - Lunch breaks; if you work 5 hours, you get a 10-minute break, if you work less than 7 hours, you get the standard 30-minute break. but if you work more than 7, you get an hour break. No exceptions, - Favoritism; managers (in my store) always prefer those who get the most credit card applications in the store, or if you sell any Dyson or Tom Ford products, or those who have bigger and louder personalities. - Pettiness; if you don't greet one guest out of the group that comes in, they'll keep you at being greeter for hours, and on different days too, - No training besides computer training; videos provided by Sephora and register training. They (reasonably) expect you to be somewhat knowledgeable about makeup or skincare. - Managers watching everything you do and reporting it all on the end-of-day email; the cameras can see everything you do or don't do. - Management changes; I've been here almost 2 years and I have seen VARIOUS coordinators (lower management/leads) leave, 2 assistant store managers, and 1 store manager leave. - High volume vs. Low volume stores; if you're in a high volume store, good luck getting Friday, Saturday, or Sunday off. If you're in a low-volume store, good luck getting hours and staying busy in those hours. - CREDIT CARD APPLICATIONS; unless you have an extremely pushy personality, you're required to get at least 1-5 a month or be subjected to constantly being told that they want you to get a credit card. - More employees = Fewer hours in general; We hired about 60 more people to my store around the holiday season and I was usually scheduled 3 days a week, around 5.5 hours each day,

For 8 hour shifts, I always got 2x 15 minute breaks plus a 30 minute lunch break. Managers were nice

      Cons

Employee discount was practically nothing. Sometimes I went the full shift without ever getting a breather because the lineup was neverending

      Changes Need To Be Made

      Beauty advisor
      Current employee
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Hands on experience in the beauty world, good opportunity to network and stay up to date on trends and new products. Employee discount and free product. Freedom to express yourself. Used to be pretty fun to work at.

      Cons

Recent changes with the addition of the flex position and the unrealistic metrics are causing severe burnout with employees. Short staffed due to low payroll and people quitting all at once. Micro managing. Silent Demotion. Things were better before corporate made these changes. Short breaks. Too many expectations on employees who don't get paid enough and don't make commission. Unless you're full time you don't get benefits other than training product and the discount, and if they silently demote you, all you have is the discount. Hours can be extremely inconsistent and your job title is never truly secure unless you're management.
