      Pros

It's an alright starting salary for an entry level job in buying in New York & WFH Fridays

      Cons

As a new hire out of college, I think the experience of working here is really russian roulette. As an assistant buyer, you have no say in what department you work for, and there's basically no opportunity to move into a desired department. I went to fashion school and was placed in a random accessories department. Like, FIT graduates are buying automotive accessories lol. The worst part and what I think is the fatal flaw of working here is that there's no interview process for your team placement. So even if you are a good employee, smart, and contribute a lot, you just may or may not vibe or align with your manager which absolutely determines your day today experience in the office, your opportunity for promotion, and your overall standing. I had a manager who was horrible, and I know as an employee I was doing a good job, but was only ever constantly berated. There's a corporate culture of always improving and learning, which is generally a good philosophy, but the way it materializes is essentially constant criticism and no reward for anything. HR sucks.

      Pros

I can confidently say it's an outstanding place to build a long-term career. The company is financially stable, which gives me peace of mind knowing we're well-positioned for success. The wellness and health benefits are top-notch, truly prioritizing the well-being of all employees. What stands out most is the company’s commitment to DEI programs—they’re not just buzzwords here. These initiatives are deeply embedded in the culture, creating a welcoming and inclusive environment where everyone feels valued. Respect for associates at all levels is fundamental to the company's ethos, and that respect extends to providing incredible growth opportunities. If you're someone who's dedicated and looking for upward mobility, Ross offers the perfect environment to thrive and develop professionally.

      Cons

The company could benefit from updating its technology, particularly with AI and integrations that could help streamline administrative tasks. There’s a lot of manual work that could be automated, which would improve efficiency across the board. Additionally, the approval process for almost anything can be quite lengthy, which sometimes slows down progress. The interviewing process also tends to be extended, and could benefit from being more streamlined to improve the candidate experience. In terms of field training, having facilitators could help strengthen the company’s operations and improve knowledge sharing across teams. Finally, while the company has a great culture, incorporating more social media into the daily routine could help further engage employees and promote the company externally—though this could be a pro or con depending on perspective!
