      Pros

The culture is more or less great, and simply unique to Roche. The Job is easy. Lots of work events and time off.

      Cons

You don't get paid for holidays, and get no pto or benefits as a contractor. 2 week shutdown with no pay. Roche does not have a path to full time for contractors, and unless you're in with the in group or related to someone, getting on full time is incredibly difficult, unlikely, and has no path or timelines. You could functionally live in contract limbo with horrible or no benefits for years, which is the norm. Some people have been contractors for 7 years. You will also get passed over for other individuals for your roll that you already perform on the day to day, because the openings for full time rolls (which are identical to the contract of the same roll) are open internal, external, and to contractors, so you're competing with literally everyone for the job you are LITERALLY already doing. They say they care about contractors but their hiring practices indicate THEY DO NOT CARE, and if they did, they would just change it. They have internal only applications, you can make contractor only applications. The pay is low compared to other local jobs in the industry. The leadership is vague about future job openings. While the culture is good, it can feel clique-y at times, and if you don't fit in with the "culture" you're out. They don't respect neurodivergent people with different thinking patterns despite the push to have the appearance they do. The leadership and teams don't like when newbies try to challenge practices and bring in positive CQI changes, and will brush you off or label you as a difficult individual because you want to standardize practices. They do not hold people accountable for their actions, and even promote individuals who bully and discriminate against others. These same individuals also are often found sleeping in the labs and are regularly late with poor communication. If you point it out or ask management to do something about it, you become the bad person and instead of addressing the problem employee, they label you difficult.
