What is the feeling of job security at Qumulo?

Great Company with an Even Better Product

      Pros

Awesome work/life balance. Product gets better with every release. CS team is well taken care of and for the most part immune to layoffs.

      Cons

Struggling to take the next big step in regards to sales/profit. Feels like we are in a bit of a vicious cycle where marketing/sales orgs are constantly being refreshed.

      Pros

The company had a good work/life balance.

      Cons

The culture was terrible. One of the things they claim to value is being your "authentic self." But I didn't feel that was the case, at all. There were multiple layoffs. No real direction for the company. Constant change of leadership. Pay was sub-par for my specific role.

      Pros

Non competitive culture, feeling of ownership, amazing people, supportive and fun community, fast paced environment, experimentation encouraged

      Cons

There were multiple layoffs while I was there, but they were few and far between.

      Roadmap changes, layoffs, negativity, disorganization

      Pros

Good work-life balance, lots of layoffs

      Marketing
      Former employee
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

I worked at Qumulo for a while and loved the people I worked with. It was very rare that I interacted with someone who was negative or rude, and I made long term friends. Team management was good, and all employees were trusted to make decisions and execute. I never felt micromanaged. It also has good PTO and a great work life balance. I rarely was overworked unless a large project was going on. Compensation was also good, but raises and promotions have definitely slowed a ton in the last year.

      Cons

The company is completely product led. Lots of management in teams don't actually have a say in what strategies or directions they implement. Often times, financial goals are missed, and there were too many layoffs/restructures to count. Plenty of people who were smart, long term, well loved employees have been let go with little to no reason at all. That is definitely the biggest con - it doesn't feel like anyone is ever "safe" from layoffs. The diversity is also very much lacking, and they don't do much to give back to the community. Also, no 401K match.

OK place to work but not incredible

      Software engineer
      Former employee
      Seattle, WA
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Good work life balance, people actually able to use PTO High coding standards Other employees mostly very nice and normal people

      Cons

Got a new tech director and started eroding the high standards, pushing for more Amazon like policies. Some employees are kind of weird/way too serious/obnoxiously push to over test every small piece of code. At one point they fired most of the women in engineering, and almost all of the women that were left quit stating that it was a difficult environment for women.
