Have to start out part time and work way up

Coworkers, good work culture, good management, good benefits if you go full-time

Low pay for part-time, work can be repetitive, coupon-crazy customers, no employee discount on products,

for a part time employee, there are no pros to working for publix.

no benefits at all, not even an employee store discount. they give you "shares" to the company but you cannot even access them unless you've had three years with the company and have worked more than 1000 hours which is very hard for a part time employee to achieve.

You'll never get two days off in a row, and when management is confronted by it, they'll give you some lame excuse as to why it's "impossible" to have two days off just to recuperate from the back-breaking work they expect of you from this company. If you're "full time," just expect to pick up the slack of lazy, non-committal "part time" employees who can pick and choose when they're available to work, leaving "full-timers" with all the bad shifts. Meaning, no work-life balance. You won't get an employee discount, but they're happy to provide discounts to students who don't even work there. Sanitation and food safety is a joke. Management doesn't care about food safety unless they're being audited by Steritech, otherwise they'll force you to put out ready to eat product that's been mishandled or not at temp.

Easy job Nice coworkers Good benefits *You have to look into them personally* - Free Stock (You have to work 1000/hr/yr)(based on hrs/pay/yrs) - Discount store for employees (you can get discounted gift cards, kinda like an employee discount) - 401k even for part time - PTO even for part time - College/Uni rembursment Very flexible with schedule (most managers) To stay employed you have to work once a month but you can still buy stock as long as your employed, so a lot of workers work once a week/month to keep their options open The stock program is really good if you look into it, rn I'm making about 20% increase on my 401k and the stock gives a dividend each quarter The stock splits about every 13 years by 4-10, so if you have 10 stock it'll go to 40-100, your stocks then all increase and you make more money each quarter and overall.

The workplace is very dependent upon how you get along with your manager Publix leaves a decent amount of choices up to each store this makes each store different than the last I have had management that listen and really want each employee to grow I have also had management that has extreme favorites which affects your raises (only once a year) and if you are looked at for promotions they expect a lot out of you for little pay increase once you are customer service staff and up I was full time and then management was moved around and the new managers did not like me so then they made my work life miserable There are not a lot of changes that you can get when there is management you do not like The higher management does not want to look bad so they look away from a decent amount of negative qualities from other managers I just had a coworker who transferred departments because he would rather "have a manager that ball taps you instead of a manager that has something out for you"
