What are pay raises like at Northeastern University?

Great culture, on the staff side everyone is kind and nobody is rushing you to meet deadlines. A low-tech office means it's easy to impress at times. Generous paid vacation/personal/sick time. If you get full-time work, you can take courses for free.

Salaries are low without bonuses, only small annual raises which aren't even a guarantee.

Good internship programs. International students friendly.

The salary is low and increase very slowly.

While finding the right job with the internal job application process may be difficult, if you find the right position you will have a great time working as a student. Pay increases with experience and undergraduate year, and hours are flexible to fit around class schedules. I have found great connections and community through my position.

Working as a student is not an easy task. You will have to prioritize what is important to you. Being a private school, Northeastern has a disproportionality high socioeconomic population, and you may feel like you are missing some of the experience.

You get Blue Cross Blue Shield (you pay 20-30$ copay if you get the most premium option of 160$ every month) Delta dental (not the great) Vision (Don't care to use this) 403B retirement fund Tuition Waiver, but if you take more than 2 classes for the whole academic year (Spring, Summer, Fall) then you pay taxes. Unless it is directly related (NOT CLOSELY RELATED, BUT IS EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE HIRED TO DO) then you don't have to pay taxes for it. That's about it really....

Parking...50 year contract with MasParc where they dictate the prices and will charge you however much they feel like it. Honestly, HR is pretty much a joke, They won't accommodate you or any disability you may have. So make sure that if you can't commute to work, get a remote job, otherwise there's nothing you can do about it. There's little to no raises/promotions. You're lucky to get above a 4% raise each year.

Benefits are great - retirement match & tuition remission There are some legitimately great people working here, a good manager can make or break a job. Just need to find a good manager.

Nonprofit that is run like a for-profit institution. Pay gap between leadership and most employees is massive. One of the highest paid university presidents in the US, but merit raises can't keep up with inflation. Also pushing return to office. No longer creating remote jobs.

I do like the people I work with and work life balance

I am the only person of color on my team, and I get paid significantly less than my counterparts. I am also blamed for things that happened before I was even employed here, and every time I bring either of these issues up it is immediately dissmesed. Upper management has made it very clear that they do not like me. and I have been written up several times after the first time I asked to be paid the same as my counter parts. The worst part about the pay is that my coworkers who make more than I do still qualify for low income housing, and it seems like they give out money to others like no ones business. For example, one person on the senior leadership team got 2 pay increases this year alone for around 100,000 dollars in total
