What is a typical working day like at Lidl?

      Lidl reviews

Don't be fooled by the great rate of pay on offer

      Warehouse operative/picker
      Former employee
      Doncaster, England
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Doncaster RDC - Simple job, if your self motivated you'll have no issues. Night M, plenty of parking, subsidised meals very good, night managers and team leaders seem approachable

      Cons

The great rate of pay only applies during nights for 5.5 hours if you take a break into account. Holidays are set at basic rate not nightshift premium, absolutely shocking chasing up leaving pay, they say I owe them money and withholding my due premiums which are paid in arrears. Equipment is of sub standard, Lydia voice system cuts off frequently, llops never fully charged, pallets are broken, toxic work force, training they get you to sign off things you've never had training on even if you say no. Rotad in for 7. 5 hours a night but do 8 as standard, not an issue until you raise a pay query. Do not recommend

      Pros

Decent pay and 10% Staff discount

      Cons

Extremely repetitive and boring. You can and probably will be sat on the tills for about 8 hours a day. You start at 4:30 if you’re doing delivery shift which is very depressing in winter.

      Salesperson
      Former employee
      Vilnius
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Private Health insurance, team building activities once a year, shift schedule. Career opportunities within store management.

      Cons

Very high paced job. You are expected to work without a minute break. Expect to lift heavy weights and adapt to tasks that change fast. You never know what you going to do day to day exactly. Sometimes you do not know your work schedule until the day before (that is very dependent on store manager, some prepare schedules in timely manner, some do not).

This company is a danger to public health and needs to be shut down

      Retail store associate
      Former employee
      Cherry Hill, NJ
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

      -Very structured, constant communication through earpiece -Provide company uniforms -Clear , stated objectives to be completed everyday;

      Cons

-They sell expired, rotten meat and moldy produce. They discount these items with 30 percent off stickers and the public may not check the dates and end up blindly buying because of the price. So many returns daily and expired food pulled from the shelves;Literally shopping cart full of expired products. Please report this company to your local health board and shut this place down for good. -As an associate , you are given way too much work to handle and you are talked down to without the utmost rudeness. They ask you to clean bathrooms, do trash, do carts, and ring on the register;you are part of a skeleton crew so dont expect any downtime and you MUST complete their menial tasks before you leave which is around 1 hour after your shift ends. -There is no culture here. Nobody is pleasant, everyone is miserable you will be treated as such. There is no HR. There is no feedback given to managers-they will not hear it and they will chastise you if you question management. -Their whole management team within the store are a bunch of high school graduates who are severely deficient in knowledge of how to run a supermarket, and how to treat customers and employees. The group you will be put with are literal drug addicts and highly obnoxious people who are unfriendly and crass who don't deserve their pay for the work they do
