      Pros

The pay is not the worst once the shift differential is added for overnight. Work is fairly consistent with some opportunities for overtime. If you are accustomed to working overnight, accessioning is an easy department for third shift. Some of the supervisors are understanding, honest individuals that really do want to see their employees thriving.

      Cons

The accessioning department tends to show favoritism in which employees to train/promote. Twice my paycheck was shorted hours and I had to message HR for a correction, which was then added to my next payroll check rather than paid out right away. Supervisors and management will not accommodate you well if you are pregnant, making you stand for multiple hours and continuously lift 15 lb. bags of specimens until you press for accommodation through a third party leave management company (even for extra restroom breaks during pregnancy). Health insurance, dues, etc. are a 25% deduction from EVERY paycheck for myself and one dependent. Recently the attendance policy has been changed by LabCorp without a Union vote or input from employees to a point system that is much more stringent than the previous policy. One of my hourly pay raises was also done incorrectly and then retroactively corrected months later.

      Pros

Employer retirement match up to 5%. Free Laboratory testing for benefit eligible employees.

      Cons

One of the lowest starting pay ranges in the region. They boast tuition reimbursement. However this only applies if you pay out of pocket and have no financial aid, grants or scholarships. Expensive health insurance with high deductibles considering it is a healthcare career. No shift incentive or bonuses or anything to help cover short staffing problems in the hospital setting. Since being purchased by LabCorp, moral has been steadily decreasing as we continue to work for less money and frequently short-staffed.

      Pros

Very low proc rate. I can draw blood with my non dominate arm as well. I've done many split shifts for LabCorp. I've traveled a lot for LabCorp. Sometimes 2hrs in a single day. I go above and beyond. In so much that Advanced Cardiology only wants me to be their tech and no one else. They love having me as their tech. I take out Advanced Cardiology's trash and boxes to the dumpster for them. I do deep dives to ensure the very rare specialty tests are done exactly the way the doctors want them since these test codes are rarely given. And when PTs want a curtesy copy sent to another doctor I make sure to put it in the system and make an additional attachment,. Which makes the PTs very happy😁I also cover Rowan OB/GYN at night when ask at the Sper of the moment. I'm very willing to go above and beyond for my supervisor. I stayed on the clock even though I pulled a muscle around my ribcage and I was struggling to breath; it was hard to keep my asthma under control...I didn't want to inconvenience LabCorp by leaving. So I went to the hospital after my shift.

      Cons

speed even though I've done a 25 PT volume IOP by my self.
