What is the salary like at Klarna?

      Klarna reviews

      Change is constant

      Marketing manager
      Current employee
      Madrid
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Good benefits, good pay (above the market avg) and smart colleagues.

      Cons

Decision making process could be better explained, including criteria for promotions and salary increases.

Intransparent communication & horrific work culture

      Customer service agent
      Current employee
      Stockholm, Stockholm
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Flexible hours, relatively good pay for the position that it is, lots of AI automations so you are doing very little unnecessary work.

      Cons

No feedback to ways of working is given from managers but it's visible that you are being watched and measured by your stats only, they ask for honest feedback and what can be improved but largely turn down/ dismiss suggestions, micromanagement, intransparent communication around everything (long-term planning, short-term ad hoc decisions). Huge changes occur all the time without explanation with the expectation that this is just to be accepted. You are being told the bare minimum of what's necessary for you to know and no bit more than that. This leads to constant anxiety and constantly pending job insecurity. They really make you feel how replaceable you are to them. Zero small talk in meetings, no praise or "well done" ever just additional pressure on getting stats up, no feeling of project team belonging is fostered and they'd prefer for everyone to work with as little communication with others as somehow possible. By far the most human-unfriendly and horrific work culture I've ever experienced.

      Technical recruiter
      Former employee
      New York, NY
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

People were great to work with, and generally easygoing

      Cons

Very tight on salaries, not a lot of room for upward mobility

Its good but the salary not so much

      Software engineer
      Former employee
      Stockholm, Stockholm
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

      * You can work with very friendly and inteligent people * You work in a product with millions of users

      Cons

      * It depends from team to team, I heard great experiences and horrible experiences at Klarna it only depends on which team you are * The compensation I think is the worst, I think most of companies in stockholm will pay a better salary

High turnover, poor leadership, below market pay

      Operations manager
      Former employee
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

      - Flexible work remote policy

      Cons

Simply compare Klarna on Glassdoor to other companies in the same industry and you'll see just how terribly rated they are, and for good reason- complete leadership disconnect, poor pay & bonus structure, and a genuinely depressed culture characterized by large majority burnout with a few leaders desperately trying to keep spirits high but with little luck. What started as a fun job for an exciting, up-and-coming company 3.5 years ago quickly spiraled for the following reasons: Poor Leadership: - Oppressive top-down culture - Most processes are dictated by C-suite level, to the point where they actually join routine calls to ensure the most tedious and inconsequential practices are addressed, which only fueled a culture of resentment. - What was once an encouraging and autonomous culture regressed into one full of fear and tension. Terrible Incentives: - External meetings are tracked and then at the end of each week there's actually a poll showing which teams were the highest and lowest contributors. - Pay is below market rate. - Bonuses are non-existent. - After 3 years of covid we received only one 3% inflation raise, despite the company growing significantly each year and meeting most financial goals. Moreover, the entire process for the one raise we did receive was incredibly delayed and overhyped. - Each year they have you fill-out cumbersome performance plans and reviews that actually go nowhere. Overall, the company has deliberately created a high micro-management culture in preparation for an IPO with an obvious planned attrition strategy by way of increased oversight plus a slashing of benefits. What was once a great company that rewarded employees devolved into one that could care less about retention as the C-suite try to get rich quick and then promptly exit the company post-public offering.

      Service delivery specialist

      Pros

good salary, nice people and office, nice culture.

      Cons

Very uncertain company, things can change very fast and not in your favour as an employee. Each day can be your last day in the company because of 'structural changes'.
