Cons
Travel opportunities limited to sales staff
“Brightness of future” and “training and development” sold as employee philosophies and benefits that needs to be “earned”, however once roles are open based on company needs at the time, internal “promotions” are not compensated in line with or above market related roles despite unique experience, skills and development received.
Career progression becomes hard in a non sales role as roles are offered to staff with the most tenure , which is seen as experience - just because you have done something for a while does not mean you would be the best for a role.
Progression for the company then is limited to older staff who are not adept at cross skilling, change management or keeping up with trends so innovation is limited to what junior staff are able to push through without being acknowledged or compensated for. Junior staff capable of the roles are then having to educate older staff as well.
Diversity and inclusion are marketed through the diverse staff compliment but very poorly represented in senior leadership roles other than the minimum required amount to achieve the desired BBBEE level
