      Pros

Flexibility: One of the significant advantages of working for DoorDash is the flexibility it offers. Dashers can choose when and where they want to work, allowing for a better work-life balance. Extra Income: DoorDash can be an excellent source of additional income, especially for those looking to supplement their primary income or make money during their free time. Easy to Start: Getting started with DoorDash is relatively easy. The application process is straightforward, and there are minimal requirements for becoming a Dasher. Tips and Bonuses: Dashers have the potential to earn tips from customers, and DoorDash sometimes offers bonuses or incentives for completing a certain number of deliveries during peak times. No Boss: As an independent contractor, you are your own boss. You have control over your schedule, routes, and working conditions.

      Cons

Variable Earnings: DoorDash earnings can be inconsistent and highly dependent on factors such as location, time of day, and market demand. Some days or hours may be more profitable than others. Expenses: Dashers are responsible for their own expenses, including gas, maintenance, and wear and tear on their vehicles. These costs can significantly impact overall earnings. Limited Benefits: Gig workers for DoorDash do not typically receive traditional employment benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans, or paid time off. Wear and Tear on Vehicle: The constant use of your vehicle for deliveries can lead to increased maintenance costs and depreciation. This is a consideration, especially for those who rely on their cars for personal use. No Job Security: Gig workers are not employees, and DoorDash can change its policies or terminate Dashers' access to the platform without the job security that traditional employment provides. Customer Service Issues: Dashers may encounter challenges related to customer service, such as dealing with delivery issues, incorrect orders, or difficult customers.

      Pros

Flexible Schedule: One of the biggest advantages of working with DoorDash is the freedom to choose your own hours. Whether you want to work a full day or just pick up a few deliveries in the evening, the flexibility is ideal for students, parents, or anyone needing side income. Instant Pay Option: With Fast Pay, I could cash out my earnings daily for a small fee, which was great when I needed quick cash. Easy to Start: The sign-up process was straightforward, and once I got approved, I could start delivering almost immediately with minimal onboarding. Autonomy: No bosses looking over your shoulder. It’s just you, your car, and the app. You work independently, which I really appreciated. Occasional Bonuses: Promotions like Peak Pay or Challenges offered decent extra earnings during busy hours or special events.

      Cons

Wear and Tear on Vehicle: You’re using your own car, and that means gas, maintenance, and depreciation are all on you. In high-traffic areas, this adds up quickly. Unpredictable Earnings: Some days were great, others were painfully slow. Pay is heavily dependent on demand, location, time of day, and tips. It’s not guaranteed or consistent. Lack of Benefits: No health insurance, no paid time off, no retirement savings—because it’s 1099 contractor work, you're entirely on your own for all that. App Glitches & Support Issues: I occasionally dealt with glitches in the app, order mismatches, or customer complaints. Getting help from DoorDash support wasn’t always fast or helpful. Pressure from Ratings: Although you’re technically your own boss, maintaining a high customer rating and completion rate can feel stressful, especially when problems are out of your control.

      Great company, a little cheap

      Pros

Lots of internal mobility, work from home, pleasant office if needed

      Cons

The company brings a lot of money but tends to be cheap with employees. 2 weeks accrued pto a year when unlimited pto is considered the norm for tech companies, no food allowance for remote worker, only if you show up to office, no 401K match, salaries slightly below market.

Need extra money? This is a great way to get it. It is also a good source of income for people that don't have children.

      Pros

Working at DoorDash is pretty cool because you get to be your own boss. You decide when and where to hit the road, giving you the freedom to juggle work with whatever else is going on in your life. The sign-up process is a breeze, and you can count on quick payouts, which is always a win. Plus, DoorDash is all about embracing diversity, making it a chill and welcoming community for drivers. If you're into the idea of earning some cash on your own schedule while keeping things easy and flexible, DoorDash is a solid choice.

      Cons

One downside is that your earnings can sometimes depend on factors like location, time of day, and demand, so it might not always be a steady income. Also, wear and tear on your car can be a thing since you're constantly on the move. And hey, you gotta deal with the occasional weird delivery instructions or customers who might not be in the mood for small talk. Plus, there's no traditional job benefits like health insurance or retirement plans. It's a bit of a trade-off for the flexibility. So, while cruising around making deliveries can be a decent gig, it's good to know it's not all sunshine and rainbows.

      Pros

      - fast moving and dynamic - opportunity to take extreme ownership and develop skills through it - nice equity packages - hybrid work environment - good benefits like health and wellness stipends, 401k matching, in-office meals etc

      Cons

      - extreme favoritism for raises and promotions, not necessarily ground in actual great performance - impossible to get to a different department once you start in MxS - MxS makes dramatically less than any other department regardless of your level - poor upper leadership support - extremely political dynamic

      DoorDash stock, pretty good benefits

      Cons

No 401K match, expectation to work a LOT, people are very burnt out, exceeding goals by a crazy amount is celebrated but no thought to how the person got there (hint, its by working all day and night). Gig economy companies are also very impacted by swings in the economy and makes life at DoorDash unstable, in terms of layoffs.
