We were genuinely surprised and disappointed by some of the statements made, as they do not fully align with our values or the experiences we strive to create for our team. But as Simon Sinek has often said, “challenges can be catalysts for growth, and we are taking this as an opportunity to reflect and improve”.
There are a few things from this review that remain absolutely true. First, we are fortunate to work alongside some truly incredible people, and we are grateful for their contributions and impact every day. Second, we genuinely hope that anyone who feels misaligned with our organization finds a place where they feel empowered and inspired.
Trust is a cornerstone of our culture, and it is built when we follow through on our commitments, show up with consistency, and maintain clear communication. To nurture trust, we believe in coaching and supporting team members, especially when challenges arise. In this case, we chose to support the reviewer in multiple ways, believing in their potential, as any organization that values its people would.
Like many small and dynamic teams, we have practices in place to strengthen our culture, including asking our team members to come into the office three days a week and to arrive before 10:00 a.m. This helps foster the collaborative and supportive environment we all value so much. We also provide extra vacation time in lieu of designated sick days, as flexibility is essential to us. When required extended leave due to surgery, we offered paid time off beyond their vacation to support them.
As a Company, we are always open to constructive feedback, and we acknowledge the communication gap that occurred over a commission payment. We must mention that this was resolved promptly within 48 hours, and, to provide flexibility, we allowed the commission payment to be processed through the individual’s corporation (save significant tax) and later increased their salary to ensure fairness.
Transparency and mutual support are at the heart of our company. We share openly to enable team members to step up for each other, whether personally or professionally. Many of our colleagues have been with us for years, and we believe this longevity reflects our commitment to building a supportive workplace.
We have always left no stoned unturned to ensure our employee's well being. In such cases, we have gone an extra mile to provide long notice period of 5 weeks to support a smooth transition, despite gaps in meeting certain performance KPIs.
We are fully receptive to feedback and we have learned valuable lessons with this review. We wish the reviewer every success and fulfillment in their career.
