What is a typical working day like at Allied Universal?

One of the benefits of working at this company was the weekly pay. Another benefit was that there was overtime if you needed to earn some extra money.

One of the biggest downsides is the Overall benefits packages (health insurance, 401K, PTO). When I was employed with them, the benefits were pretty horrendous, PTO was almost non-existent, health care costs was high, and If you volunteered for extra shifts to help out, to the manager, you made it seem like you would be available for every extra shift that was needed.

Pay was decent when you work a full schedule. Some sites were very easy to work. Minimal supervision. Paid weekly. Set schedule. Most sites were close to home.

From the top down, utter and complete lack of communication. Extremely disorganized. No value of employees No morals. No accountability when they make a mistake. They force you to stay over your scheduled shift by 4 hours if no relief has arrived. Employees are just another number to them. They will cut your days and hours without notice and expect you to be ok with it. They will change your predetermined schedule without notice. They mishandle your pay at times so you'll need to have it fixed. They allow employees to get away with almost anything without repercussions. Dishonest. They won't always find you coverage when someone doesn't show up aside from not informing you that they aren't showing up.

The job at base level is very stress-free, and easy. Depending on which contract you work for the pay-rate is also not the worst out of the bunch comparative to other more labor intensive jobs in the area.

If you expect upper management to be helpful, you're in for a rude awakening. Upper management is cycled through pretty fast and in addition to that they're severely undertrained. You can expect to see a lot of messed up pay stubs and hours worked not being reflected. If your contract is under staffed and not meeting contractual obligations be prepared to just deal with it, some days you're lucky to meet more than 60% of the mandatory staffing level. To add onto that, you'll also get to take the blunt of the client's frustration as your Shift Managers are going to do next to nothing about it. Communication and Training is so inconsistent from shift to shift that it might as well not even be standardized. From personal experience any "internal investigations" will never actually make it to branch because, the Site Level Management will do everything in their power to prevent that from happening. If you should find yourself fed up enough to circumvent your management structure and go directly to branch, you'll find yourself in an endless loop of blame shifting and general ignorance. Nothing ever gets addressed, and the company employs anyone with a pulse while also somehow being one of the largest Security companies in the country. After being promoted I found myself doom scrolling indeed and just biding my time until a new company took their contract.

1 Con, at this place, its sink or swim. Day Shift is favored amongst all the shifts, everything revolves around them and specifically 2 to 3 people, that usually lies within the Captain and the lacky thats in that room with him.
