Description Harry Samrick founded Mill Steel Company in 1959 with little more than a phone, a desk, and the idea that superior service and good business ethics could lead to success. The culture Harry established has made Mill Steel one of the premier flat-rolled and coated steel suppliers in North America. Now Harry’s granddaughter, Pam Heglund (CEO, Chairman & President), alongside fellow partners – Carl Quenneville (SVP & CCO), Joe Poot (SVP Purchasing), Rob Vella (VP Operations), and Marc Rabitoy (CFO) – continue to lead Mill Steel with steadfast dedication to superior quality, delivery, and performance.
Mill Steel operates five processing locations across the Midwest and Southern US, serving the automotive, construction, HVAC, appliance, and agriculture markets. The company offers hot-rolled, cold-rolled, coated, and pre-painted coils, sheets, and blank products. With a revenue of $775 million, Mill Steel earned the number 16 spot on the 2021 Metal Center News annual “Top 50 Service Centers” publication. The company is also among the Top 15 privately held enterprises in Michigan.
Mill Steel has repeatedly been named one of the 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For by the Michigan Business & Professional Association (MBPA). In addition, the MBPA has presented Mill Steel with multiple Elite Awards for its outstanding people-first culture. The company continues to grow by consistently operating with integrity and working towards one clear vision of being the industry leader in customer experience.
