Role summary
Sino Express Intelligence Co., Limited is recruiting a Director of Artificial Intelligence (Technical R&D Lead) to conduct full-time R&D work in Hong Kong on AI-enabled optimisation of EV charging infrastructure and green-energy systems.
This is a senior technical R&D leadership role with responsibility for leading the company's Hong Kong AI R&D roadmap, prototype development, model validation and technical delivery for EV charging and green-energy optimisation. The role will focus on applied research, controlled pilots, reproducible technical documentation and technical leadership for AI and data-driven systems supporting EV charging and sustainable energy operations.
This is a technical R&D leadership role. It is not a statutory director, board position, shareholder role, proprietor role, partner role or corporate management position of the company.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct R&D on AI and machine-learning models for EV charging demand forecasting, utilisation prediction and station allocation analytics.
- Develop, test and validate predictive-maintenance models using charger telemetry, fault logs and controlled pilot data.
- Research optimisation algorithms for dynamic load balancing, energy management and grid-aware scheduling under operational constraints.
- Develop AI methods for renewable-energy integration, battery scheduling and smart-grid related simulation or pilot studies.
- Design experiments, define evaluation metrics, analyse model performance and document reproducible technical findings.
- Develop prototypes, model cards, technical reports, data-pipeline specifications and R&D progress documentation.
- Coordinate technical R&D workstreams, mentor AI / data staff and support knowledge transfer within the technical scope of the role.
- Support controlled Hong Kong R&D pilots for EV charging optimisation, computer vision safety or occupancy monitoring and MLOps governance.
Requirements
- Doctoral degree or advanced degree in artificial intelligence, computer science, data science, engineering, energy systems or a related STEM discipline. Doctoral-level research experience is preferred for this senior technical role.
- Substantial experience in AI, machine learning, data analytics, optimisation, computer vision, predictive modelling or related applied R&D.
- Experience in EV charging, green energy, smart-grid, energy systems, sustainable technology, operations optimisation or related domains is preferred.
- Experience designing experiments, building prototypes, validating models and documenting technical results.
- Experience leading technical R&D workstreams, mentoring engineers or coordinating cross-functional technical teams.
- Research outputs, peer-reviewed publications, patents, recognised technical reports or applied R&D achievements are preferred, but no specific publication venue is required.
- Hands-on technical capability in tools such as Python, C++, MATLAB, PyTorch, TensorFlow, Spark, cloud platforms, MLOps tools or equivalent technologies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to explain complex AI concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Legally permitted to work in Hong Kong during the engagement period or able to obtain the required permission before commencement.
Assessment method
Applications will be assessed based on the published role requirements, including relevant STEM qualification, AI / machine-learning R&D experience, EV charging or energy systems relevance, R&D project leadership, research outputs, Hong Kong work eligibility and fit with the planned full-time Hong Kong R&D duties.
Shortlisted applicants may be invited to a technical interview and, where appropriate, a short technical discussion or case exercise related to AI model development, EV charging optimisation or R&D planning.
Internal and external applicants are welcome and will be assessed under the same published criteria.
