Job Summary

We are seeking an inspirational and innovative Computer Science Teacher to join our dynamic faculty. The ideal candidate is a passionate educator with a proven track record of delivering high-quality instruction in international curricula and a demonstrated ability to mentor students to success in national and international computing competitions. You will be responsible for fostering a deep understanding of computational thinking, programming principles, and the ethical implications of technology in our students.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning:

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and challenging lessons in Computer Science across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
• Teach and be proficient in at least two of the following curricula: Cambridge IGCSE, Cambridge AS/A Level, or IBDP Computer Science.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students, from beginners to advanced coders.
• Utilize a variety of teaching methods and educational technology to create an interactive and stimulating learning environment.
• Develop and implement schemes of work, lesson plans, and assessment tools in line with curriculum standards.

Competition Coaching and Enrichment:

• Identify, recruit, and mentor students for internal and external Computer Science competitions (e.g., Bebras Challenge, UKMT, MIT THINK, FIRST Robotics, hackathons, Olympiads of Informatics).
• Establish and lead a vibrant after-school coding club or competition team, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
• Prepare students for competitions through targeted training in algorithms, data structures, problem-solving strategies, and advanced programming techniques.

Student Assessment and Progress:

• Design and conduct formative and summative assessments to monitor student understanding and progress.
• Provide timely, constructive, and meaningful feedback to students to support their academic growth.
• Track and report on student achievement, preparing students for external examinations and internal deadlines.

Pastoral and Academic Guidance:

• Serve as a homeroom tutor or advisor, supporting the holistic development and well-being of students.
• Provide guidance to students on academic choices, university applications, and potential career paths in technology and computer science.

Collaboration and Contribution:

• Work collaboratively with the Computer Science department and the wider faculty on curriculum development and interdisciplinary projects.
• Participate actively in departmental meetings, school events, parent-teacher conferences, and professional development opportunities.
• Contribute to the school's digital literacy and technology integration goals.

Requirements

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a directly related field.
• A recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, B.Ed., or equivalent).
• A minimum of 3 years of experience teaching Computer Science at the secondary level.
• Demonstrable experience teaching at least two of the following: Cambridge IGCSE, AS/A Level, or IBDP Computer Science.
• Proven experience in coaching and preparing students for Computer Science competitions.

Essential Skills and Knowledge:

• High proficiency in multiple programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C++, JavaScript) and a strong understanding of core CS concepts (OOP, data structures, algorithms).
• Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• A passion for technology and education, with a commitment to ongoing professional learning.

Preferred Attributes:

• Experience working in an international school environment.
• Experience with robotics, AI, web development, or other specialized computing fields.
• A record of success in student competition outcomes.
• Involvement in wider school life, such as leading extracurricular clubs or activities.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35,000.00 - $50,000.00 per month
