Animation Intern

Blink Art Gallery, a leading contemporary art space, is seeking a talented and creative Animation Intern to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for students with a passion for animation and digital media to contribute to cutting-edge, technology-driven art projects.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the Blink Gallery's artists and curatorial team to conceptualize and develop animated artworks and digital installations
• Create compelling 2D and 3D animated sequences, motion graphics, and interactive experiences to complement the gallery's exhibitions and programming
• Experiment with various animation techniques, including traditional hand-drawn, stop-motion, and computer-generated animation
• Assist in the integration of animated elements into larger-scale art installations, ensuring seamless interaction and user experience
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for the implementation and presentation of animated artworks
• Conduct research on emerging trends and techniques in animation, digital art, and interactive media
• Contribute to the documentation and storytelling around the gallery's animation-driven projects

Qualifications:

• Pursuing a degree in animation, digital media, or a related field, such as BCOMM (Hons) in Game Design and Animation, BCOMM (Hons) in Film – Animation and Media Arts Concentration, or Bachelor of Arts and Science (Hons) in Arts and Technology
• Strong proficiency in 2D and 3D animation software (e.g., Adobe After Effects, Autodesk Maya, Blender)
• Experience in creating engaging, visually compelling animated content for various platforms and mediums
• Familiarity with principles of interactive design, user experience, and creative coding (e.g., Unity, Processing)
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team
• Passion for the arts and a keen interest in exploring the intersection of technology, creativity, and innovative storytelling
• Strong communication and presentation skills to effectively convey ideas and concepts
