Work Arrangement: Full-time, 5 days per week in office (no remote working)
Job Description
The Marine Assurance – Vetting Superintendent is responsible for managing vessel vetting and marine assurance activities to ensure compliance with company standards, charterer requirements, and international regulations. The role also supports the company’s QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety & Environment) framework, contributing to safe, compliant, and reliable marine operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct and manage vessel vetting assessments in accordance with company standards and industry requirements.
- Review SIRE/OVID inspection reports and evaluate vessel suitability for chartering or operations.
- Liaise with vessel owners, operators, and internal stakeholders on vetting-related matters.
- Maintain accurate vetting records, databases, and performance tracking and monitor vessel safety performance and identify trends of risks.
- Support continuous improvement of marine assurance, vetting and QHSE processes.
- Ensure compliance with applicable international regulations, industry best practices, and company policies.
- Support and align marine assurance activities with the company’s QHSE management system.
- Manages OCIMF SIRE inspection protocol for the region and participate in industry teams/programs as required.
- Support and participate in incident investigations as required.
- Provide vetting and marine assurance advice to internal stakeholders as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Seagoing experience at least 6 years, preferably as rank of Chief Officer/2nd engineer, Master/Chief engineer on oil/chemical/gas tankers or LNG carriers, or equivalent shore-based marine assurance/vetting experience.
- Familiarity with QHSE principles, management systems, and risk-based safety processes
- Experience working within oil majors, chartering companies, ship management, or marine assurance functions is an advantage.
- Solid knowledge to troubleshoot fleet issues and a good knowledge of OCIMF, IMO regulations, ISGOTT, TMSA, SIRE 2.0 programme and marine industry best practice.
- Ability to travel internationally for terminal and vessel inspections and audits.
Skills & Competencies
- Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken), and ability to interface with internal and external.
- Strong analytical, risk assessment, and problem-solving skills
- Advanced computer skills are required, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and BI tools for reporting and performance analysis.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
- Ability to work full-time from the Hong Kong office.
